แผนที่เป็นอุปกรณ์สำคัญอย่างหนึ่งที่มนุษย์นำมาใช้เป็นเครื่องช่วยในการดำเนินกิจกรรมต่างๆ ในชีวิตประจำวันนับจากอดีตจนถึงปัจจุบัน แผนที่มีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาประเทศ การเรียนการสอน การประกอบอาชีพสาขาต่างๆ และการนำไปใช้งานด้านต่าง ๆ เช่น ภูมิศาสตร์ การสำรวจ ธรณีวิทยา การเกษตร ป่าไม้ การคมนาคมขนส่ง กิจการทหารตำรวจ ศิลปวัฒนธรรม สาขาต่างๆเหล่านี้ จะต้องอาศัยแผนที่เป็นเครื่องมือชี้นำเสมอ

คอมพิวเตอร์มีวิธีการแสดงผลภาพออกมาให้เหมือนจริง หรือทำเสมือนมองเห็นได้ในสภาพเป็นจริง(Visualization) เช่น แสดงความลึก สูง ต่ำ นูน รูปแบบภาพสามมิติ เป็นลักษณะที่ง่ายต่อการสื่อความหมายมากขึ้นแผนที่มีอยู่หลายประเภทด้วยกัน เช่น แผนที่ภูมิประเทศ แผนที่ภาพถ่าย แผนที่เฉพาะเรื่องต่าง ๆ การผลิตแผนที่แบบใด มีความละเอียดถูกต้องระดับใด ก็ขึ้นอยู่กับวัตถุประสงค์ของงานที่จะใช้ นอกจากนี้ขึ้นอยู่กับหน่วยงานด้วยว่ามีขีดความสามารถในการผลิตแผนที่ได้เองหรือไม่ ซึ่งในปัจจุบันก็มีหลายหน่วยงานในประเทศไทยไม่ว่าทั้งของรัฐบาลหรือเอกชนสามารถผลิตแผนที่ขึ้นมาใช้เองในหน่วยงาน เช่น มหาวิทยาลัยต่าง ๆ บริษัทเอกชนต่าง ๆ

งานด้านรีโมทเซนซิ่งและระบบสารสนเทศภูมิศาสตร์ (Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System)
ก็มีเป้าหมายที่สำคัญอย่างหนึ่งคือการแสดงผลออกมาในรูปแแบบของแผนที่ไม่ว่าจะเป็นแผนที่ในรูปแบบแผ่นกระดาษ หรือแผนที่ในรูปแบบดิจิตอล (Digital) ที่สามารถแสดงผลในคอมพิวเตอร์ ได้ การแสดงผลหรือการผลิตแผนที่ออกมาจะต้องมีหลักในการทำแผนที่หลายอย่าง เช่น การอ้างอิงระบบพิกัดของแผนที่ให้ถูกต้องตรงกับสภาพความเป็นจริงบนพื้นโลก กำหนดทิศทาง มาตราส่วน การแสดงสัญลักษณ์ต่าง ๆ ให้สื่อออกมาสอดคล้องกับความเป็นจริง ในประเทศไทยเรานิยมใช้แผนที่ที่ผลิตโดยกรมแผนที่ทหารนำมาใช้งาน และนำมาเป็นแผนที่อ้างอิงประกอบ หรือที่เรียกว่าแผนที่ฐาน (Base Map)

เนื่องจากถือว่าเป็นแผนที่มาตรฐานที่มีความถูกต้องสูง โดยแบ่งเป็น 2 มาตราส่วน คือ มาตราส่วนเล็ก 1:250,000 หรือแผนที่ภูมิประเทศลำดับชุด 1501 S มีระบบพิกัดเป็นระบบพิกัดภูมิศาสตร์ ซึ่งประชาชนหรือผู้สนใจทั่วไปสามารถจะซื้อมาใช้ได้ และมาตราส่วนใหญ่ 1:50,000 หรือแผนที่ภูมิประเทศลำดับชุด L7017 มีระบบพิกัดเป็นระบบพิกัดภูมิศาสตร์ และระบบพิกัดกริด UTM ใช้ได้เฉพาะหน่วยงานราชการเท่านั้น ในบทความนี้จะเน้นทำความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับแผนที่ภูมิประเทศลำดับชุด L 7017 มาตราส่วน 1:50,000 ซึ่งเป็นแผนที่ที่มีความละเอียดค่อนข้างสูงและนิยมนำมาใช้งานในหน่วยงานราชการทั่วไป รวมถึงเนื้อหาอื่น ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้องเพื่อให้เข้าใจเนื้อหามากยิ่งขึ้น

รูปทรงสัณฐานของโลก

โลก (Earth) โลกของเรามีรูปร่างลักษณะเป็นรูปทรงรี (Oblate Ellipsoid) คือมีลักษณะป่องตรงกลาง ขั้วเหนือ-ใต้ แบนเล็กน้อย แต่พื้นผิวโลกที่แท้จริงมีลักษณะขรุขระ สูง ต่ำ ไม่ราบเรียบ สม่ำเสมอ พื้นผิวโลกจะมีพื้นที่ประมาณ 509,450,00 ตารางกิโลเมตร มีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางที่ศูนย์สูตรยาว 12,757 กิโลเมตร มีเส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางจากขั้วโลกเหนือถึงขั้วโลกใต้ 12,714 กิโลเมตร จะเห็นว่าระยะทางระหว่างแนวนอน (เส้นสูนย์สูตร) ยาวกว่าแนวตั้ง (ขั้วโลกเหนือ -ใต้) จากลักษณะดังกล่าวนี้ ทำให้ไม่สามารถใช้รูปทรงเรขาคณิตอย่างง่ายแสดงขนาด และรูปร่างของโลกได้อย่างถูกต้อง ดังนั้นเพื่อความสะดวกต่อการพิจารณารูปทรงสัณฐานของโลก และในกิจการของแผนที่ จึงมีการใช้รูปทรงสัณฐานของโลกอยู่ 3 แบบ คือ ทรงกลม (Spheroid) ทรงรี (Ellipsoid) และ ยีออยด์ (Geoid)

ทรงกลม หรือ สเฟียรอยด์ เป็นรูปทรงที่ง่ายที่สุด จึงเหมาะเป็นสัณฐานของโลกโดยประมาณ ใช้กับแผนที่มาตราส่วนเล็กที่มีขอบเขตกว้างขวาง เช่น แผนที่โลก แผนที่ทวีป หรือ แผนที่อื่นๆที่ไม่ต้องการความละเอียดถูกต้องสูง

ทรงรี หรือ อิลิปซอยด์ โดยทั่วไป คือ รูปที่แตกต่างกับรูปทรงกลมเพียงเล็กน้อย ซึ่งจะมีลักษณะใกล้เคียงกับสัณฐานจริงโลกมาก จึงเหมาะสำหรับใช้เป็นพื้นผิวการรังวัด และการแผนที่ที่ต้องการความละเอียดถูกต้องสูง เช่น แผนที่ระดับชุมชนเมือง แผนที่ภูมิประเทศมาตราส่วนใหญ่ทั่วไป แผนที่นำร่อง เป็นต้น

ยีออยด์ เป็นรูปทรงที่เหมือนกับสัณฐานจริงของโลกมากที่สุด เกิดจากการสมมุติระดับน้ำในมหาสมุทรขณะทรงตัวอยู่นิ่ง เชื่อมโยงให้ทะลุไปถึงกันทั่วโลก จะเกิดเป็นพื้นผิวซึ่งไม่ราบเรียบตลอด มีบางส่วนที่ยุบต่ำลง บางส่วนสูงขึ้นขึ้นอยู่กับความหนาแน่นและแรงโน้มถ่วงของโลก ทุก ๆ แนวดิ่ง (Plumb Line) จะตั้งฉากกับยีออยด์ ยีออยด์มีบทบาทสำคัญในงานรังวัดชั้นสูง (Geodesy) แต่กลับไม่มีบทบาทโดยตรงกับวิชาการแผนที่ นอกจากจะใช้ในการคำนวณแผนที่ประกอบกับรูปทรงรี

Your World in 3D - Zoom, Tilt and Rotate world

Use your mouse, keyboard or trackball to navigate the world. Grab the image with your mouse to move around. The navigation compass allows you to manipulate the view in multiple ways.

Drag the right slider up and down to zoom in and out. Drag the top slider left and right to tilt the view. To rotate the image, spin the navigator's on-screen wheel.

การนำงานจาก maps มาใส่ world

สิ่งที่ต้องมี
1. โปรแกรม world ดาวน์โหลดโปรแกรมได้ที่ http://earth.google.com/

ขั้นตอนการใช้งาน
1. ใช้ maps สร้างแผนที่ของฉันดูรายละเอียดได้ที่ สร้างแผนที่ของฉัน ใช้ maps

2. เปิดแผนที่ใน maps ที่เราสร้างไว้และต้องการนำมาใช้งานใน world

3. คลิก "ดูใน world" "View in world" ด้านบนขวา

*** ต้องมีโปรแกรม world สามารถ Download ได้ที่ http://earth.google.com/

4. คลิก open บนกล่อง File Download ที่ปรากฎขึ้น ระบบจะเปิด โปรแกรม world และทำการ copy แผนที่ในหน้า maps ที่เราเปิดไว้มาแสดงผลใน world โดยอัตโนมัติ

5. ชื่อไฟล์ จะแสดงอยู่ในกลุ่ม Temporary Places ให้ทำการย้ายมาอยู่ในกลุ่ม My Places และเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็นชื่อที่ต้องการ

*** การย้ายไฟล์เพื่อความปลอดภัยในการเก็บรักษาเพราะไฟล์ที่ Temporary Places โปรแกรมจะลบออกไปโดยอัตโนมัติเมื่อปิดโปรแกรม

6. ดับเบิ้ลคลิกที่ชื่อไฟล์ แผนที่โลกจะซูมเข้าหาแผนที่ที่เราสร้างไว้

การใช้งาน maps ร่วมกับ world

- จากการใช้งานที่ maps http://maps.google.com/

- สร้างแผนที่ของฉัน โดยใช้ maps
*** ดูการสร้างแผนที่ของฉันได้ที่ สร้างแผนที่ของฉัน ใช้ maps





- คลิก รายการที่ต้องใช้ใน "สร้างขึ้นโดยตัวเอง"

- คลิก "ดูใน world" ด้านบนขวา
*** ต้องมีโปรแกรม world สามารถ Download ได้ที่ http://earth.google.com/





- มีกล่องแสดงขึ้นมา ให้เลือก "open with world" แล้วคลิก "OK"

- จะเปิดโปรแกรม world ขึ้นมา

- รายการจะแสดงอยู่ใน เมนูด้านซ้าย ในกลุ่ม "Temporary Place" ให้ทำการย้ายไปอยู่ในส่วนของ "My Places"

- ทำการ ดับเบิ้ลคลิก รายการ ภาพแผนที่จะวิ่งไปยังแผนที่ตามรายการที่ทำไว้

Program Features (ความสามารถ ของโปรแกรมนี้) : นอกจากแผนที่ภาพถ่ายดาวเทียมแล้ว ... ทาง โปรแกรม PointAsia ยังมี Feature ต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการค้นหาข้อมูลเพื่ออำนวยความสะดวกต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น

1. การค้นหาเส้นทางเดินรถ ทั้งสายรถเมล์ รถตู้ และรถไฟฟ้า
2. ระบบการปักหมุดแนะนำสถานที่ให้คุณสามารถประชาสัมพันธ์ร้านค้า หรือธุรกิจของคุณได้
3. ระบบ Search ค้นหาข้อมูลต่างๆ ที่ได้มีคนมาลงข้อมูลเอาไว้
4. ระบบ Community (Me & Gang) ที่ทำให้คุณสามารถสร้าง Gang ส่วนตัวเอาไว้ทำกิจกรรมกับเพื่อนๆ ได้ เหมาะกับการทำเวบรุ่น หรือบอกสถานที่นัดพบ
5. ระบบจับภาพหน้าจอ และวาดเส้น เพื่อประกอบการใช้งานแผนที่

เนื่องจากระบบ ของโปรแกรม PointAsia นี้จะไม่เหมือนกับโปรแกรม world เสียทีเดียว คุณสามารถลงข้อมูลสาธารณะในส่วนกลางของโปรแกรมได้ โดยไม่จำเป็นต้อง Safe เป็นไฟล์ต่างหาก ระบบจะจดจำคุณได้ ไม่ว่าคุณจะเข้า Internet จากที่ไหนก็ตาม
